Today, we had an all-day hike with Carlos and Laura. We started at their beautiful home in Sao Mateus. We hiked into higher elevations, through farmland, down back roads, through quaint neighbourhoods, down to the coast, and back up again to their home. We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating – there is no bad view on this island! This is not a marked hike and we would not have had this experience without the guidance of Carlos and Laura. Carlos knows this area because he had, and has, family living here.

We finished up back at Carlos and Laura’s home. We shared a light meal and more conversation before saying goodbye for now.

Tip of the Day: This is a bit of an addendum to our previous tip about Google Maps. Today we discovered that, on Pico, GM isn’t good at finding a street address. It can find a village, a cafe or a landmark just fine, but not a street address.
