We explored another area today, beginning in Calhau, past Criacao Velha and on to Areia Larga, and back again. Again, we are so taken by the rugged beauty of this island.
We realize that our photos must look the same or similar in each post – rock walls, vineyards, mountains, ocean, cows… It’s true that there is a consistent look to the island, but it’s also true that each nook and cranny is unique. Unfortunately, that does not always come through in the pictures. You’ll just have to take our word for it, or come and see for yourself!
Tip of the Day: Hiking the trails of Pico is a really great way to see and learn more about specific areas that this island hides away for discovery. If you want a guided hike, you can arrange that through Carlos and Laura, who know this island’s history, flora and fauna. Go ahead and book a hike with them.
