Trains & Planes…Well, One Plane

We almost made it to Pico today! We are delayed on the final stage between Sao Miguel and Pico, due to weather (heavy rain and wind). Apparently this is not uncommon, especially in the winter. Even though the flight was cancelled, SATA-Azores Air provided a hotel and gave us vouchers for taxis and meals. WestJet could learn a lesson or two from SATA-Azores. (Ask us about our trip to Kelowna on WJ, but only if you have half a day to listen!) The good news is that we were able to explore Ponta Delgada and get in some much-needed steps. True to its reputation, the weather here changed from sideways rain to warm sunshine in the time it took us to don our jackets. Below is a series of photos, including our travel and today’s exploration.

Tip of the day: Double click the first photo if you care to read the captions and see our life sized aging faces. A slideshow will appear and you can scroll through.

End of the day wine down while we learn how to blog.

Beautiful! Sometimes an unexpected change to plans isn’t so bad! At least you escaped the weather here. PS – I love your faces.

I agree that WestJet could take some pointers from other airlines on how to treat their customers, hope that last trip does not sway you from coming to visit us. Photos look amazing!
